Field
When I was younger, I played on the field and I loved it. But, as you get older, there is a new position that desperately needs players willing to play it. This position is Goal Keeper.
Best part of being a goalie
My favorite part of being a goal keeper is the feeling of a save, and everyone on your team is cheering your name while your defenders are thanking you as if you were a god. When you make this beautiful, amazing save, sometimes even the opposing team congragulates you for doing your job.
best goalie memories
- Big save during school season: In the game against Redmond High School this spring, there was a free kick right outside the 18 yard box. The player had an excellent shot, that would have landed on the top near corner, where my wall was trying to block. I leaped into the air and felt like I was floating for 10 whole seconds, then I made the save to keep us in the game. We would go on to lose 4-0 because my defense did not give me any assistance
- Winning BigFoot tournament: A couple years ago, before I became serious about playing keeper, I was in a tournament. In the tournament, the main keeper was out of town for the Finals, which left me in charge to take care of business. We won against one of our rivals, with me making a save to keep us in the game, where we won 2-0
- State cup save: The next year, we were in an intense state cup game. Whoever won would be put into the semifinals of the tournament. I was the second half goal keeper, and we were already down 2-0. My goal was to not concede any more. I saw the short ginger kid from the opposing team dribble through the defense as my heart slowed almost to an alarming stop. I leaped forward with my hands wide to make myself big enough to block his shot, and then I made the save and got a beautiful applause.
